There are four ways to get your emails into your Mailparser inbox:
- Manually forward emails as you receive them
- Set up automatic forwarding in your email client
- Have the sender send a copy directly to your Mailparser address
- Import .eml files directly from the Parsing Rule Editor tab
Which method you choose depends on your workflow.
If you use Mailparser for on-demand processing, manually forwarding emails one by one may be simplest. You can also forward multiple messages at once by attaching them as .eml files to a single email.
Most users, however, prefer to automate things using either Option 2 or Option 3.
Option 2: Set Up Automatic Forwarding
You can create a forwarding rule in your email client to automatically send specific emails to your Mailparser inbox.
This approach is great for ongoing parsing because it runs in the background and can target only the emails you need.
Follow one of these guides to get started:
Option 3: Send Directly from the Source
If you can configure the system or sender to email your Mailparser address directly, this is a great option. It eliminates extra steps and reduces potential forwarding delays.
Tip: If possible, try to include your own email address in CC or BCC so you keep a copy of each email for your records.
Option 4: Import .EML Files Directly
You can also upload .eml files straight into your Mailparser inbox from within the Emails tab. This is useful if you already have the email files saved on your computer and want to process them manually.
To do this:
- Open your inbox and go to the Emails tab.
- Click Import .EML Files in the upper right corner of the page.
- Choose the .eml file(s) you want to upload.
The uploaded email will appear in your inbox just like any other message, ready to be parsed according to your rules. More instructions can be found here.
Keep a copy of your emails!
Mailparser is not designed for long-term storage. To avoid losing any information, make sure you keep copies of your original emails outside of Mailparser.
By default, emails and parsed data are stored for 30 days, but you can adjust this between 5 minutes and 60 days. Enterprise customers can extend retention up to 120 days.
