Parsing credits determine how many emails and attachments you can process with your Mailparser account during each billing period.
What is a parsing credit?
Parsing credits are consumed when an email is imported into your Mailparser inbox.
The number of credits used depends on what Mailparser needs to parse from the email. This includes the email itself and any attachments that have parsing rules created to extract data from them.
The number of individual parsing rules or fields you extract does not affect your credit usage.
How are parsing credits calculated?
When an email is imported, Mailparser determines which parts of the email need to be parsed based on your parsing rules.
The email itself consumes 1 parsing credit.
Attachments consume an additional parsing credit only when you have parsing rules set up to extract data from them.
For example:
- An email with no attachments uses 1 parsing credit
- An email with one attachment, with no parsing rules for the attachment, uses 1 parsing credit
- An email with one attachment that has parsing rules uses 2 parsing credits
- An email with two attachments, but parsing rules are only set up for one attachment, uses 2 parsing credits
- An email with two attachments and parsing rules set up for both attachments uses 3 parsing credits
Simply receiving an attachment does not automatically consume an additional parsing credit. The attachment must be processed for data extraction based on your parsing rules.
Do multiple parsing rules use additional credits?
No. Credits are not based on the number of parsing rules you create.
For example, you could have 10 parsing rules extracting different fields from the body of a single email. The email would still consume only 1 parsing credit.
The same applies to an attachment. If you have multiple parsing rules extracting different fields from the same attachment, the attachment consumes 1 additional parsing credit, not one credit per parsing rule.
When are parsing credits consumed?
Parsing credits are consumed at the time an email is imported into your Mailparser inbox.
Credit usage is determined by the parsing rules that are in place when the email is imported. This means the number of credits used reflects the email and any attachments that Mailparser processes for data extraction.
Example
Suppose an email arrives with two PDF attachments.
You have parsing rules set up to extract data from the email body and from the first PDF. You do not have any parsing rules set up for the second PDF.
The email would use:
1 credit for the email + 1 credit for the parsed attachment = 2 parsing credits
The second attachment does not consume an additional credit because Mailparser does not have any parsing rules set up to extract data from it.
